Summary: A silly poem about a girl and her spider friend, who enjoys gum very much. The spider ends up being stepped on by the mother and the girl is left with her pal's gum.

Evaluation:
It is a short, sweet, and silly poem. The author explains it was written as a school assignment when she was younger, which explains a lot. It would be good for a very young reader.

From flea, to rats, to a cockatoo, to chalk, the frog is transformed by this magic man. Who will he transform next? Evaluation: The illustrations look like they are created by a wizard themselves. I really enjoyed thinking of all the possible writing prompts you can create with this book.

"Just Like Josh Gibson"

Not only was she not allowed to play with the boys. Every once in a while she got to practice with the guys. She proved to them that she didn't "play like a girl". She was even able to fill in one game for a hurt player. Evaluation: This book is a tribute to Josh Gibson. He was an amazing baseball player in the Negro Leagues. Many say that he would have outranked Babe if there wasn't any restrictions due to his skin color. Unfortunately he died of a stroke months before African Americans were allowed to play along white men. The book has a fun perspective and great pastel pictures.
